Civil War Reflections Through Word and Song (A Studio Tenn Original)
Nov 3 - 13, 2016
This brand new original work brings poetic cadence and theatrical storytelling to the 1864 Battle of Franklin—one of the bloodiest campaigns of the American Civil War. Our home base for five seasons and counting, Franklin, Tennessee is a community not only steeped in history, but extraordinarily well-versed in it. Studio Tenn has enlisted the expertise of leading local historians as well as top artistic talent for the development of this stirring performance piece, combining poetic license with actual accounts from the battle to bring new light to the lives lived—and those lost—in the war-torn South.

THE ELEPHANT MAN
By Bernard Pomerance
Feb 16 - 26, 2017
This Tony Award-winning drama is based on the true life of Joseph (“John”) Merrick, a medical mystery of Victorian England who toured Europe as a freak show attraction. His shocking disfigurement afforded him little social contact, apart from the gawking of onlookers indulging their own morbid curiosity. When an esteemed doctor takes Merrick into his care, he begins to see past the Elephant Man’s unsightliness, discovering a remarkable intellect, heart and hunger for human connection. The role of Merrick calls for his malformation to be conveyed through the actor’s physicality, without the aid of makeup or prosthetics—a poignant allusion to what lies below the surface.
THE LORETTA LEGACY
A Tribute to the Coal Miner's Daughter
March 31 & April 1, 2017
Studio Tenn’s Legacy series makes the ultimate pilgrimage this year to “The Mother Church of Country Music”, Nashville’s world-famous Ryman Auditorium. Our fourth original theatrical concert is also our first to celebrate a living artist: country music royalty, Loretta Lynn. Anchored by Grammy Award-winning country star Pam Tillis alongside sister and theatre veteran Carrie Tillis, our talent-packed cast will pay tribute to the honky-tonk queen by singing, picking and playing their take on dozens of her well-loved hits. Don Chaffer’s innovative arrangements deliver a fresh perspective while tipping a ten-gallon hat to Loretta’s signature spunk and panache. A two-night stand of non-stop music!
MONTY PYTHON'S SPAMALOT
Book & Lyrics by Eric Idle, Music by John Du Prez & Eric Idle
May 4 - 21, 2017
Studio Tenn is pulling out all the stops to present a musical comedy of truly epic proportions for our 16/17 season finale. Monty Python’s Spamalot is a hilariously irreverent parody of the Arthurian legend, inspired by the 1975 cult classic movie “Monty Python and the Holy Grail.” Marking their first performance together in a Studio Tenn musical, our own Matt Logan and Jake Speck will lead the cast of local and national all-stars. These ragtag Knights of the Round Table bring our exploration of perspectives full circle with a side-splitting reminder to “always look on the bright side of life.”
