Tennessean review of 'Les Miserables' from 2013-2014 season
Over the past four seasons, Studio Tenn has wowed audiences with dazzling designs and impeccably staged musicals. And this weekend’s production of “Les Misérables” promises to do the same, with a star-studded cast backed by a live orchestra and a 146-voice choir — all presented in Nashville’s gorgeous Schermerhorn Symphony Center.
So it was with great interest that I sat down to observe Friday evening’s rehearsal at the company’s new space at The Factory in Franklin. I had braced myself for a rather bare-bones approach — after all, this was still a rehearsal. But even without artistic director Matt Logan’s richly detailed designs, without the benefit of the Schermerhorn’s perfectly balanced acoustics (bot)or even the use of microphones, I can assure audiences that this is one of the finest productions of “Les Mis” you’ll ever see.
