Studio Tenn breathes new life into the classic musical Fiddler on the Roof
The gypsy-like existence of some of the great regional theaters is the stuff of showbiz history. In its formative stages in the 1950s, Washington, D.C.'s Arena Stage did theater in an old brewery. Chicago's Steppenwolf Theatre Company started life in the '70s in a suburban church basement. A permanent physical home and great prominence eventually followed for both, and each continues to thrive.
