[Directions to Schermerhorn Symphony Center]

All interstates (1-65, I-40, I-24) connect to the downtown area. Exit either on Demonbreun or Broadway and turn right towards the downtown area. SSC is located on 4th between Demonbreun and Broadway. Stage Door drop off is on the corner of Demonbreun and 4th.

STAGE DOOR

STAGE DOOR

PARKING

Read below for a list of available Symphony parking options.

[Discounted Parking for Subscribers]

There is a small short term parking area along 4th just outside the SSC courtyard that can be used for quick drop off and pick up.  Please do not stay parked for a period of time in these spots as you might get ticketed.  This is a good option if you know for sure your child is at stage door ready for pickup.

Pinnacle parking passes can be pre-purchased at the SSC Box Office.  $8 for SSC Subscribers and $10 to single ticket buyers.  Occasionally, the Pinnacle parking garage has been known to run out of space.  In that case, the Music City Center is another close option just down Demonbreun Street. Pricing varies depending on downtown events.

[Valet]

The Nashville Symphony offers valet parking in front of Schermerhorn Symphony Center on Symphony Place for most events. The price is $20. Valet begins 90 prior to show start.

[ParkItDowntown.com]

A complete listing of parking options may be found by visiting the Nashville Downtown Partnership's website (listed above), which provides interactive maps, special parking offers and more.

[ParkMe.com]

You may also search for convenient, affordable options at ParkMe.com. Visit the website (listed above) to see available parking close to Schermerhorn Symphony Center

*The Nashville Symphony is no longer offering free parking in Lot R of LP Field.

**Additional parking lots and outdoor spaces are available in the areas surrounding the Schermerhorn

*** Due to CMA Fest, parking will be a challenge downtown. There will be road closures. Please allow for extra time. More information to come.

MAKEUP AND HAIR

The following is a guideline for appropriate stage makeup and hair for your child. Please adhere to these guidelines.

Girls

HAIR:

We are looking for a slicked back look in a ballet bun.  Please watch this video for instructions.

Necessary Items: Hair net in child’s hair color, pins in child’s hair color, hairspray, brush.

MAKEUP:

We are looking for a basic stage makeup look with extra blush on the ball of the cheeks.  Here is a video for Child’s Stage Makeup.

Foundation/Concealer – should match child’s natural skin tone

Eye Shadow – soft and natural colors / minimal shimmer

Mascara – black or brown

Blush – pale pinks and peaches / nothing too severe

Lipstick/Lip Gloss – pinks and peaches (no reds) / soft colors

Face Powder – neutral tone

Items to pack in makeup kit: eye shadow, mascara, blush, powder, lipstick or lip gloss

Boys

HAIR:

We are looking for the hair to be parted on the side and slicked back with gel.

*(The Lollipop Guild may get another style that would be given at the theatre.  We will inform you if that is the case.)

MAKEUP:

None.

*Children’s makeup should be natural and bright. Any specialty makeup will be applied by a professional makeup artist / dresser.

STAYING HEALTHY

Being in a professional theater stage show requires long hours, intense focus and respectful and controlled behavior from your child. To set your child up for on stage success here are some helpful tips:

FOOD AND DRINK:

-       Please send healthy snacks and water with your child. Granola bars, Protein bars, fruit, veggies and water make excellent snacks. (no peanuts)
-       Avoid large amounts of sugar and sugary or caffeinated beverages.
-       There is not a refrigerator for use so please do not send food or drinks that will spoil when not refrigerated.
-       If you do not plan to pick up your child between performances on Saturday and Sunday, please provide their dinner meal as well as snacks for throughout the day.

HYGIENE/PERSONAL ITEMS:

-       Please remind your child about the importance of hand washing! With a cast this large, it is imperative to hand wash and stop the spread of germs. Travel sized bottles of hand sanitizer are great to add to their theater bag.
-       Remind your child NOT to share bottles of water, makeup or hairbrushes.
-       Encourage your child to cover their mouths when they cough or sneeze and focus on sneezing or coughing into the elbow.
-       Please have your child use deodorant at the appropriate age. This will help keep our costumes clean and dry and minimize odor in closed quarters.

* Studio Tenn does not require you follow these recommendations. These are only suggestions to maintain the best health possible for your child during rehearsals and performances.
