    Reports to: Box Office Manager and Managing Director

    Summary: The Box Office Associate is a crucial role for the success of Studio Tenn financially and for brand reputation. This person will take the initiative to support all aspects of the box office from start to revenue generating finish.

    Detailed Description: To perform this job successfully, an individual must perform each essential function satisfactorily with or without a reasonable accommodation:

    • Manage Studio Tenn Box Office to ensure efficient operations and excellent patron experience

    • Adhere to all Studio Tenn policies and procedures

    • Perform other duties as assigned

    Box office responsibilities, utilizing the box office software Archtics and TM1 (training available):

    • Manage incoming calls and walk-up sales for ticket order processing

    • Ensure excellent patron service in all aspects of ticketing and public communication

    • Work with management to execute ticket pricing promotional strategies

    • Manage importation and organization of internal and external data, i.e. prospect lists, customer lists from outside venues, etc.

    • Negotiate and coordinate group sales and non-public performances

    • Run the box office for performances including will call and walk-up sales

    • Serve as primary contact with Ticketmaster to troubleshoot technical issues

    • Supply discounted tickets to valid and interested parties where appropriate

    • Be the “voice” of Studio Tenn and educate those that approach the box office about our mission and programming

    • Assist with coordination, logistics and hospitality for non-ticketed or general admission events (gala, look-ins, readings, etc)

    *Plus any other duties deemed necessary by management.

    KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required.

    Education and/or experience: High School Diploma required, Bachelor’s in Communications, Business, or related field preferred. Minimum one (1) year of relevant experience required.

    Computer skills/Technical knowledge: Windows, Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, Google Suite, Word Press, email programs.

    Mathematical skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, decimals, and percentages.

    Language skills: Ability to understand, read, write, and speak English. Excellent written, verbal, and public speaking skills. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, safety data sheets (SDS) or governmental regulations. Ability to successfully write reports, business correspondence, and policy. Ability to effectively present information, respond to questions, and professionally interact with managers, employees, clients, vendors, and the public.

    Reasoning ability: Must be able to apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect pertinent

    data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and initiate appropriate course of action. Must effectively convey ideas, images, and goals to a diverse group of personalities.

    Other Qualifications: General knowledge of computer applications for the frequent use of electronic mail, word processing, data entry, spreadsheets, graphics, etc. Must be able to handle multiple, simultaneous tasks effectively and efficiently. Strong verbal and written communication skills required. Must be detail oriented and organized with the ability to perform duties under pressure, prioritize workload, and timely meet deadlines. Must have the aptitude and ability to self-direct work. Ability to work irregular hours and weekends.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to work in a fast-paced, sometimes stressful, customer service-oriented environment, perform duties under pressure and meet deadlines in a timely manner. The employee must work as part of a team, complete assignments independently and take instructions from supervisors.

    Regular and reliable attendance and adherence to organizational standards of availability required. Must be willing and able to maintain a flexible work schedule to meet the demands of the position.

Works in well-lit, ventilated and climate-controlled office environment where routine equipment is used; some equipment has moving mechanical parts. May need to work in warehouse setting assisting with production with poor ventilation. May be exposed to hot and cold temperatures. May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals, flammables, pesticides, etc. Noise level varies from an office environment to theater with music and entertainment.

STUDIO TENN’S INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

Studio Tenn Theatre Company is proud to offer young theatre practitioners the opportunity to train with industry and union professionals including IATSE, USA, SDC, and Actors’ Equity. As a valued member of the Studio Tenn family, interns work closely with artistic, producing, and administrative staff to help build and create shows that garnish both local and national press alike. Our for-credit internship program is geared toward college students and pre-professional individuals pursuing a professional theatre career.

  • The mission of Studio Tenn’s Internship Program is to combine a theatrical education with professional experience which mirrors that of a liberal arts curriculum. In doing so, we hope to create well-rounded theatre practitioners that can enter the entertainment industry creating informed, innovative, and imaginative art.

    The ultimate goal is for each intern to leave with a practical set of skills and knowledge that spans all departments and transcends the normal theatre experience, all the while developing relationships locally and with guest artists from across the nation.
